Your adventure begins with pickup from your hotel or Kigali International Airport. Meet your professional safari guide and begin the scenic drive north toward Volcanoes National Park, passing through Rwanda's famous rolling hills, agricultural communities, and beautiful countryside. As you approach the Virunga Mountains, the landscape becomes increasingly dramatic, with volcanic peaks rising above the surrounding villages and farmlands.
Arrive in the Musanze area and check into your lodge for lunch and relaxation. Depending on your arrival time and trekking schedule, you can enjoy an optional cultural experience, community visit, or simply take time to prepare for the following day's gorilla trek. Your guide will also brief you about the trekking experience, including what to expect, what to carry, and how to prepare for time in the forest.

After an early breakfast, travel to the park headquarters for your gorilla trekking briefing. Once your gorilla family has been assigned, begin the trek into the mist-covered forests of Volcanoes National Park. Trekking time varies depending on the location and movements of the gorilla family, and the terrain can be steep and challenging, but the experience of finally encountering mountain gorillas makes the effort unforgettable.
When you find the gorilla family, you'll have a regulated period to observe them as they feed, rest, groom, and interact with one another. Watch the behavior of the silverback, playful youngsters, mothers caring for infants, and other members of the family while maintaining the required distance. After the trek, return to your lodge to relax and enjoy dinner while reflecting on one of Rwanda's most extraordinary wildlife experiences.

Arrive in the Akagera area and enjoy lunch before beginning an introductory afternoon game drive. Depending on recent wildlife movements, you may encounter elephants, lions, buffaloes, rhinos, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, hippos, and a wide range of bird species.
Later, enjoy a memorable boat cruise on Lake Ihema, one of Akagera's most scenic experiences. Cruise along the lake's calm waters while watching hippos emerge from the shallows, Nile crocodiles bask along the shoreline, and African fish eagles, kingfishers, herons, and other waterbirds move through the wetlands. Return to your accommodation after the cruise for dinner and your final night in Rwanda's savannah wilderness.
