Experience two of Rwanda's most extraordinary primate encounters on this 6-Day Rwanda Primate & Rainforest Tour, combining mountain gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park with chimpanzee trekking in the ancient forests of Nyungwe National Park. Starting and ending in Kigali, this carefully planned journey takes you from Rwanda's volcanic highlands to one of Africa's oldest rainforests.
Travel in a comfortable pop-up roof 4x4 vehicle with an experienced professional guide. Your first major experience is the search for endangered mountain gorillas in the mist-covered Virunga Mountains. Trek through the forest with expert trackers before spending an unforgettable hour observing a habituated gorilla family in its natural habitat.
The journey then continues south to Nyungwe, where you'll explore a completely different rainforest ecosystem. Chimpanzee trekking provides the opportunity to encounter lively troops of chimpanzees as they move through the forest canopy, while the surrounding rainforest supports colobus monkeys, L'Hoest's monkeys, mangabeys, and hundreds of bird species.
This itinerary is ideal for travelers who want a deeper wildlife experience—one centered not only on seeing animals, but on entering their natural world.
